Well, everything is now moved from the shop to my house....here are a few photos of the shop...just as a farewell to  Kyma, a little wave of gifts.

New beginnings

A long time since I've even visited my blog, let alone write....well two years on...two wonderful years in my little shop/gallery Kyma, I have loved every minute of it, and will never regret having opened it. But life and work commitments, have taken over, and I am closing, sadly and with a heavy heart, though optimistic for a bright future. Tough I will be continuing my Kyma page on Facebook with pieces still for sale https://www.facebook.com/kyma.bycaroline .....I will be working from home from now on, though will be traveling around Corfu painting and hopefully selling!  I have opened an online shop on Etsy Kymacreations, where you find some of my hand made and painted gifts and paintings I was selling in my shop, you can also find all of my paintings available as prints at caroline-philp.fineartamerica.com plus of course there is always my website .www.muralsandart.com . Once I have done all the physical stuff like actually moving all my things from the shop to my home. I will be more organized to post new work and news. I would like to thank all my friends and customers for all their support over the past two years, and you will still all be able to find me and buy or order commissions as usual.

Here are a few of the things I am making. painting and selling in my little shop

I have tried to create an atmosphere of calm and creativity in my little space...in this strange stressful world we live in it is my little haven.
My love of the sea and particularly pebbles and drift wood from the beach is fairly evident in what I use as my inspiration.

Here is a little poem I wrote in 2009 when I had my exhibition.....


Pebbles.
Behold their beauty
all but disguised
sun bleached skin
awaiting cooling sea
transformed now to a glistening gem.

Restless, moving, then so still,
carriers of time
etched on their every curve
a labour of love.
Creations of the waves.

Their destiny unknown
the depths of the sea,
a rocky cove.
To nestle in the warm caress of sand
then found by some small hand.

Their traveling days now over
Treasured.

Kyma...a little wave of gifts

Kyma is my new venture, a small workshop/gallery where I am making and selling my paintings, and other small gifts such as painted drift wood, pebbles and Corfiot roof tiles. The shop is situated in Kontokali, near the entrance to the Marina and opposite Navigators bar ( handy for any thirsty customers!!)

I am taking commissions for personalized drift wood signs and roof tiles ( a name or logo of your choice, or your own door painted on a roof tile) I also take commissions for portraits and yacht paintings.

Seems that the beginning of this year, 2010, is going to be a time for portraits! Have done another self portrait, a big one, 100x70cm, I'm holding a pebble, to carry on the theme from my exhibition. I did a portrait of my lovely friend Lynn, which I had promised I would do for her. A painting from an old B&W photo I had taken when I was at college, of my flat mate Cecily in her Grandmothers' wedding dress, and I am working on one now which is based on a B&W photograph taken by
my son Dimitri of a dancer.
